There's no point in attempting to reconcile these figures - it's sufficient to note Caddie did very well, and along with Picnic at Hanging Rock (number 6 in the top ten, and number five in the top twenty two), represented the success of the Australian feature film revival in drawing audiences to films which fitted the genre then known as "women's pictures". ![]() In the July 1984 edition of Cinema Papers, using Consumer Price Index adjusted Variety data, Caddie just missed out on the all-time top ten Australian films, landing at number eleven in the all-time top twenty two, with $1,857,858, just behind Breaker Morant which was number ten with $2,130,227 (with the gross not adjusted, the Breaker's box office was $1,639,000, and its position number 8 in the top ten).
